LSGB are looking for comments on the Reporters report and ideas on how we can move forward to fight this decision. Please use the Contact Us Page or email us direct.

EDC are being instructed by Keith Brown via 'The Reporter' to resubmit the EDC Local Plan 2010 - 2015 with the two Lenzie sites excluded from the 'Green Belt'.

If EDC or ourselves are unable to challenge 'Keith Browns' decision - by pulling every available resource democracy should prevail as we endeavour to prevent building on this land.

One question I would like answered - Is democracy alive and well in Scotland? -
Answers on a postcard please

EDC Forced to adopt the UNDEMOCRATIC decision of the Scottish Reporter.

Now that EDC have been forced into adopting the changes from the Scottish Reporter our only hope left to us to keep our Greenbelt is to lobby the ministers at the Scottish Parliament.

LSGB have already emailed Cllr Gillian Renwick (constituency manager to Fiona McLeod MSP) copying in Keith Brown, Aileen Campbell, and the First Minister, to request that Fiona arranges a meeting between the relevant ministers, LSGB and the local community. (Sent 1st July 2011) click here for content.

The more support we have here the better so please use the Useful Contact page and back up this request for a meeting.

As a minimum LSGB would think that the following are not unreasonable requests.

1.        LSGB do not think it an unreasonable request that any further development within the Lenzie area is shelved until at the very least the 851 houses at Woodilee is completed and fully occupied to see what impact it has on the local and wider community.
2.        LSGB would also like that the 2 Lenzie sites are not considered until all land that has been released by EDC for housing has been fully utilised and that there are no more brownfield sites left before any further erosions of the green belt be allowed.

Democracy "RIP" has DIED in Scotland
The snp now rule

I am sorry to tell everyone that as of today the 31st October 2011 East Dunbartonshire Council has adopted the Local Plan 2. As we all know by now EDC have been forced into this decision as the Scottish Government have not been willing to even discus this matter in fact they are happy to back the faceless civil servants who have made this sickening decision. Both the Scottish ministers and the civil servants can hide behind the rules and the law and are not willing to defend their decisions to the people that this will affect I say to them you are cowards come forward for a proper discussion.

A question that has kept niggling me is why our 2 little bits of land there can't be much to gain here when there are over 850 new homes being build less than 1km away. I do not have the answer to this yet but I am sure we will know the answer eventually.

I am sure I am not alone here when I say I feel let down by the Scottish Government and the way that they have handled this decision.

I do feel sorry for the people of Stepps and the surrounding area who are at this time fighting the same battle we fought but on a much larger scale, if they lose this battle the potential effect will be felt by everyone who has any need to use the new M80. To the fighters of Stepps I wish you good luck in your campaign. As this shows the whole of our area is under threat from greedy developers, the week willed civil servants and Government ministers. Where next?

The next step for LSGB will only become apparent when the planning application is submitted to EDC. I have tried to contact Miller Homes on 2 occasions now to find out what they have planned and if they would be interested in working with the local residents but so far they have not returned my calls or email. This I would have thought would have been a sensible course of action for them and we are still willing to sit down to discuss the overall plans which could lead to an amicable solution.

As always I will keep you posted when I have more news.
