We have taken the following information from the steppsonline website as we feel that the people of Lenzie should be made aware of more Green Belt being lost a mile or so South of us. Where will it end? Please take the time to read their website and fill out an objection form.
A number of houses in Stepps have received a letter about declassifying the green belt round Stepps to allow the construction of 2897 new houses to the North of Stepps (on the fields between Stepps and the M80 bypass, from Steppshill to the Crowwood Roundabout). Where are the proposed development plans?
There are four sites in Stepps:
North Stepps (2987 potential dwellings)
Buchanan Business Park (328 potential dwellings)
Craigendmuir Farm (415 potential dwellings)
Gateside Farm (425 potential dwellings)
There are also three other sites proposed nearby, between Stepps & Crowwood:
Crowwood Golf Club (356 potential dwellings)
Woodhead Farm East (342 potential dwellings)
Woodhead Farm West (335 potential dwellings)
This is a shocking situation for the people of Stepps and LSGB openly support their campaign to stop this building, but for the people who use the new Link road if the developers get their way it will cause complete traffic bedlam and where will the building stop, when it reaches the outer limits of Lenzie will we be joined to Stepps. Where will the green open spaces be for the next generation?
This is now the time to send a message to the Scottish Government that they have to start to practice democracy in Scotland before they can ask for a fully democratic Scotland. The Scottish Ministers have been asked to meet with LSGB but as yet they have not responded at this point we can only assume that they are happy with the current situation and have no intentions to change it until the developers have permission to build on all the areas they want to.
